Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
156 PM CDT Sat May 26 2018

.DISCUSSION...

Thunderstorm activity will be more limited this evening. Then, low
clouds and patchy fog, some dense, is likely to develop again late
tonight. LVORI values will reach 9-10 units at many locations,
especially along the higher terrain.

On Sunday, morning rain chances will be low, but then significantly
increase during the mid to late afternoon hours. Locally heavy
downpours, lightning, and brief gusty winds are expected. Another
moderate to heavy rain band, including a few thunderstorms, will
arrive late Sunday night into Monday, particularly for areas south
of the Tennessee River. As Sub-Tropical Storm Alberto tracks north
northwestward into southwest Alabama into central Mississippi on
Tuesday. This will bring additional showers and thunderstorms to
the area Tuesday and Wednesday. There may be periods of rainfree
weather, but locally heavy rainfall is expected during this period.

Fair to generally good smoke dispersion is expected Sunday and Monday.
Mixing heights will maximize at 6000-7000 ft agl on Sunday, and
4000-5000 ft agl on Monday.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy early morning fog is
possible over the next few days. Some of the fog late tonight
and early Sunday will be dense, especially along the higher terrain.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Not expected.
