.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1000 PM EDT Sun May 5 2024

Currently - A robust surface high aligned off the Atlantic Coast
stretches southwest and west across the Gulf Coast States. This
continues to maintain moderate to fresh easterly breezes across
the Keys and surrounding waters. This evenings sounding indicated
precipitable water has increased moderately over the past 24
hours. While surface dew points remain near 70, much of this
moisture increase was concentrated at a number of lower level
layers. At the same time, there are a couple of low level
inhibition zones with warmer and relatively drier air.
Consequently, all shower activity have been relegated to old sea
breeze boundaries that moved into our waters west of mainland
Monroe and also west of Andros Island.

Short Term Update - Surface winds will remain moderate out of the
east due to the broad ridge to our north holding steady. This
consistent breeze will limit overnight cooling. Expect lows in the
mid to upper 70s with dew points remaining near to slightly above
70. Recent satellite imagery is consistent with guidance in
suggesting some lower level drying is moving in across the Keys.
However, forecast soundings suggest that this will be subtle. At
the same time, lower level inhibition is expected to weaken
somewhat. As a result, a few showers nearer the island chain
cannot be ruled out. Will maintain slight chance pops.
