(Through Late Sunday) Issued at 200 PM CDT Fri May 10 2024 Northwest flow upper air pattern continues across the eastern half of the CONUS in the short term before transitioning to a more zonal pattern as an upper level low across the southwest CONUS moves east over the Rockies and into the Plains on Sunday. Other than a few showers accompanying a reinforcing cold front overnight, the sensible weather this weekend is on track to be perfect for outdoor activities with a mostly sunny sky and seasonable temperatures in the 70s on Saturday and lower 80s on Sunday. CVKING && .LONG TERM... (Monday through Next Friday) Issued at 200 PM CDT Fri May 10 2024 The aforementioned upper low will move across the Midwest Monday and Tuesday and bring the region another good soaking. This system has more of a "cool season" look to it with limited instability, so the threat of strong or severe thunderstorms remain very low for our CWA. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from a half inch across the northern CWA to better than an inch along and south of Interstate 70. Temperatures will be cooler Monday and Tuesday with cloud cover and precipitation holding high temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Skies clear and temperatures rebound in the wake of this system on Wednesday with highs surging back into the upper 70s and lower 80s. The threat of thunderstorms return by Thursday evening and the pattern looks more favorable for those storms to be strong or severe. CVKING && .AVIATION...
