...River Statement For The Upper Tombigbee River...

Forecast rainfall during the next 48 hours is expected to produce
rises along the upper Tombigbee River.  However...levels are
expected to remain below established flood stages...and any overflow
along the river should be of a minor nature.

The Tombigbee River At Bevill Lock and Dam.
 Latest stage:     117.1 feet at 7 AM Tuesday.
 Flood stage:      122 feet.
 Forecast:         Crest near 121.1 feet Thursday evening
                   and then begin to fall.

* Impact...At 122 feet...Cattle in low-lying areas of Southern
  Pickens County should be moved to higher ground. Cattle are cutoff
  in lowlands of Southern Pickens County at stages above 122 feet.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that this forecast is based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the
next 48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs
it may become necessary to revise this forecast upward.

Another statement will be issued Wednesday morning...or sooner if
conditions warrant.
