...New SHORT TERM, AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Tuesday)
Issued at 1234 AM CDT MON APR 22 2024

Dry and sunny today as high pressure slides into the area. We
will see highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. We can expect a chilly
night overnight as high pressure becomes centered over the
region. Clear skies and very light winds will promote strong
radiational cooling with lows mainly in the lower to middle 40s,
though the coldest spots should see upper 30s. Another sunny and
dry day on Tuesday, with high pressure in control. Highs will be a
little warmer with readings in the 70s areawide.

.LONG TERM...
(Through next Saturday)
Issued at 258 PM CDT SUN APR 21 2024

Only adjustment needed in the long term this afternoon was to add
a low chance of showers in the extreme northwest Friday night and
Saturday. A shortwave lifting over the ridge could bring a
glancing chance of showers, but with the ridge holding firm, do
not expect more than a few showers.

Previous long-term discussion:
(Through next Saturday)
Issued at 241 AM CDT SUN APR 21 2024

Dry conditions are expected to persist through the end of the
long term period, initially supported by dry west-northwest 500 mb
flow through Thursday. Thereafter, a notable ridge is expected to
take hold over the Southeast CONUS and Gulf of Mexico. This
should deflect any shortwaves and keep conditions dry through
Saturday.
