.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Friday...Westerly winds will diminish
by early this evening, then increase again Friday morning out of
the southwest. A cold front will bring strong north winds across
the plains in the late afternoon. Warm and dry air ahead of the
front will create near critical conditions from Park county across
east central Colorado in the afternoon. Only isolated light
showers are expected on the plains this evening. On Friday
afternoon, there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms
mainly in the mountains and the northeast corner.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday night through Tuesday...Relatively
quiet conditions are forecast on Saturday with humidity values
near or above 25%. Wind gusts up to 30 mph will be possible across
parts of the plains and Palmer Divide during the afternoon hours.
Poor smoke dispersal is expected across the Front Range foothills
with good to very good dispersal elsewhere. Sunday will be
warmer, drier, and windier with elevated to near-critical fire
weather conditions possible. A continued dry and windy pattern
will persist into the first half of next week, with locally
critical fire weather conditions likely across the plains/Palmer
Divide. Afternoon wind gusts could approach 40-50 mph each day
across a majority of our forecast area.
