Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ
836 PM MST Sat Apr 20 2024

.SYNOPSIS...Warm, dry, and perfect weather will persist the next
several days before winds begin to increase towards the middle to
end of next week.

&&

.UPDATE... The current forecast remains in good shape. Look for
fair weather overnight under mainly clear skies. Sunday will be a
repeat of Saturday if that helps with your plans. Have a good
evening.

&&

.PREV DISCUSSION /348 PM MST/...Beautiful weather continues with
temperatures generally 5 to 15 degrees above average today
through Tuesday. Few to scattered clouds in the afternoon will
help take the edge off the warmer temperatures, allowing you to
more gradually acclimate to the pristine conditions. However,
don`t expect any precipitation from these vertically limited
clouds; the best you might see is isolated virga. Winds will be
mostly light with a few elevated gusts in the afternoon.

With a series of troughs projected to push across the region later
this week, some changes to the forecast are expected. For now,
confidence is high only around the increasing southwesterly winds.
Expect breezy conditions by Tuesday, becoming stronger to end the
week. Just less than half of the GFS ensemble members show
measurable precipitation in the area by next weekend with the
ECMWF members even less bullish. Obviously there is no need to
pack an umbrella just yet, but stay tuned as the week progresses.

&&

.AVIATION...Sunday 21/00Z through Monday 22/00Z...VFR conditions
with winds becoming light and variable after 02Z. Sunday will see
variable winds at 5-15 kts.

OUTLOOK...Monday 22/00Z through Wednesday 24/00Z...VFR conditions
with afternoon southwest winds at 10-20 kts on Monday and
Tuesday.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...Sunday and Monday...Expect very warm and dry
weather with west to southwest winds at 10 to 20 mph. Afternoon
relative humidity values will range from 10 to 20 percent.

Tuesday through Thursday...Dry weather will continue. Very warm
temperatures on Tuesday will gradually cool through Thursday. Gusty
southwest winds are forecast each afternoon with a slight moisture
increase on Thursday.
