Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ
937 AM MST Mon Apr 29 2024

.SYNOPSIS...Warm and dry conditions will continue through the
week with breezy afternoon winds. Low pressure will pass to the
north of the area on Thursday, causing temperatures to cool
slighty, but rebound nicely heading into the weekend.

&&

.UPDATE...Dry westerly flow aloft will allow afternoon high
temperatures to warm to near normal readings this afternoon.
Southwesterly wind gusts will be in the 20-25 mph range this
afternoon. No major updates were required to the ongoing
forecast.

&&

.PREV DISCUSSION /352 AM MST/...A dry westerly flow has developed
aloft over Arizona and will remain in place through the coming
week. Look for seasonable temperatures, mainly clear skies and
gusty west to southwest afternoon winds at 10 to 25 mph for most
of the days under this pattern. The only variation in the weather
through next weekend will be produced by a passing dry shortwave
trough from Wednesday into Thursday. The passing trough will
produce stronger surface pressure gradients for west to southwest
winds at 15 to 25 mph gusting to around 35 mph on Wednesday. In
addition, a dip in high temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees is
forecast on Thursday associated with a cooler air mass behind the
trough. High temperatures then spring back upward on Friday.

&&

.AVIATION...Monday 29/12Z through Tuesday 30/12Z...VFR conditions
with SW winds 10-15 kts, gusting 20-25 kts before 03Z, then
becoming light and variable overnight.

OUTLOOK...Tuesday 30/12Z through Thursday 02/12Z...VFR conditions.
