Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
411 AM EDT Sat Apr 27 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...Low pressure of 29.5 inches over southwest Minnesota
will weaken to 29.6 inches as it tracks northeast, crossing western
Lake Superior today and exiting northern Lake Superior by evening.
During tonight and Sunday, 30.4 inch high pressure will build over
northern Ontario as a 29.6 inch low pressure slowly lifts northeast
across the Central Plains. This low will continue to track
northeast, crossing western Lake Superior late in the day on Monday
at 29.7 inches. As the low moves over northern Ontario Monday night,
a weak 29.9 inch ridge will shift east across the Mississippi
Valley. On Tuesday, the ridge will move toward the Appalachians as
the next low pressure of 29.6 inches tracks from the Dakotas to
northern Minnesota. This low will pass just north of Lake Superior
on Wednesday. In its wake, a 29.9 inch ridge will shift east to the
western Great Lakes by Wednesday evening.
