.NEAR TERM...
(Now through Sunday)
Issued at 1235 PM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

A dry northwesterly flow pattern aloft will prevail across the
region through Sunday, keeping our area rain-free and under mostly
clear skies. Warm days and relatively cool temperatures tonight
will occur as surface high pressure builds eastward across the
Gulf Coast. A LOW risk of rip currents will continue through the
period. /22

SHORT AND LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through Friday)
Issued at 356 AM CDT Sat Apr 13 2024

Generally quiet weather prevails during the short and long term
from Sunday night through Friday. Upper ridging dominates the
forecast through Tuesday night before we shift to more westerly
flow aloft as a trough passes north of the region Wednesday.
Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night will have a broad, weak
shortwave push across the area potentially aiding in the
development of a light rain shower or thunderstorm over interior
portions of southeastern MS into interior southwestern AL. Another
shortwave will transit the area Friday embedded within the
subtropical jet which could yield a shower or thunderstorm once
again over interior portions of southeastern MS into interior
southwestern/south-central AL.

The bigger story for the period will be a notable warming trend,
with the warmest temperatures of the Spring season so far likely
affecting much of the forecast area. High temperatures each day
will likely rise into the lower to middle 80`s, with Thursday
being the hottest with spots seeing middle to perhaps even upper
80`s. Overnight lows gradually follow suit, going from lower and
middle 50`s Sunday night to lower to middle 60`s for Tuesday and
Wednesday nights. A Moderate risk for rip currents will return
Tuesday followed by a High risk for life threatening rip currents
Wednesday as persistent southerly flow sets up on the immediate
coast. MM/25
