&&

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

Evening Update...
Water vapor satellite imagery shows the main trough axis passing
through Orange County and into San Bernardino County. Isolated to
scattered showers continue to move west to east across So Cal but
will be decreasing in coverage over the next couple hours before
finally coming to an end overnight. Rainfall totals so far today
have ranged from a couple hundredths of an inch (if any) in San
Diego County to over one-half inch or more in the Inland Empire
near the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. Any additional
accumulation this evening will be less than one-tenth inch.
Elsewhere, breezy west winds will slowly weaken overnight. Warmer
weather with less cloud cover on Monday as the trough departs,
though highs remain around 5 to 10 degrees below normal.

Previous Discussion...
Rapid warming of the air mass for Tuesday and Wednesday, reaching
14-17C at 850 mb by Tuesday afternoon and northerly flow due to a
weak short wave sliding through. Inland temperatures will soar
into the 90s for deserts with 18-20C at 850 mb level and hold
into next weekend. The far inland valleys will also warm rapidly
with 80s for Tuesday and Wednesday and very mild in surrounding
mountains.

NWP has a weak Pacific upper trough arriving late Thursday which
brings increasing southwest wind flow and cooler temperatures for
the coast and inland valleys and mountains, not much change for
lower deserts.
