Flood Statement

...The flood warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana...
Kentucky...Illinois...Missouri...

  Ohio River at Newburgh Dam...Mount Vernon...JT Myers Dam...
  Shawneetown...Brookport Dam...Grand Chain Dam and Cairo

.Minor flooding continues along portions of the lower Ohio River with
flood conditions forecast to end from the Newburgh Dam downstream to
Shawneetown between Wednesday and Friday. Due to the heavy rainfall
Sunday and Monday across west Kentucky, secondary crests will occur
from Brookport Dam downstream to Cairo on Thursday and Friday.
Flooding at those locations is forecast to end early next week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

SAFETY MESSAGE...

Never drive cars...trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded
areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow
children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated
forecasts.

The Flood Warning continues for
  the Ohio River at Newburgh Dam
* until Wednesday afternoon.
* At  9:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 39.4 feet.
* Flood Stage is 38.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Wednesday morning.
* Impact...At 38.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs.  The river is 2500
  feet wide and begins covering agricultural land on the Kentucky
  side.

  the Ohio River at J.T. Myers Dam
* until Thursday morning.
* At  9:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 38.7 feet.
* Flood Stage is 37.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  Thursday morning.
* Impact...At 37.0 Feet...Minor flooding occurs affecting mainly
  bottomland and surrounding low lying areas.

* At  9:00 PM Tuesday the stage was 45.2 feet.
* Flood Stage is 42.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 46.0 feet by
  Thursday evening. The river will fall below flood stage Monday
  evening.
* Impact...At 48.0 Feet...Water reaches the power house at Lock and
  Dam 53.
