Regional Weather Summary for the High Plains
National Weather Service Goodland KS
237 AM MDT Sat May 4 2024

High temperatures approached 80 degrees across the majority of
the Tri-State area on Friday. Widespread thunderstorms affected
the region late Friday afternoon and evening, producing severe
weather across portions of the area, mainly in the form of 60 to
70 mph wind gusts, though a few instances of large hail were
observed. The airport in McCook, Nebraska measured a wind gust of
71 mph at 749 PM CDT Friday evening. At 230 AM MDT this morning,
temperatures across the region ranged from the mid 30s in
northeast Colorado, where the sky was clear, to the mid 40s in
northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska, where overcast cloud
cover persists. Winds were from the north at 15 to 25 mph.

OUTLOOK... Benign weather, characterized by slightly below
average temperatures, mostly clear skies and light winds, will
prevail today. Strengthening southerly winds and a warming trend
will follow, on Sunday, as yet another low pressure system
develops in the lee of the central Rockies. The aforementioned low
pressure system will bring active weather, including a potential
for severe thunderstorms, to portions of the Central Plains on
Monday, mainly in central and eastern Kansas and Oklahoma.
