.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 204 AM CDT Thu May 9 2024

Dry and pleasant weather conditions will prevail across Kansas for
today through Saturday, as surface high pressure builds over Kansas
with north winds pushing drier low level air into the region.
Meanwhile current early morning satellite imagery shows upper
level low pressure beginning to retrograde from western South
Dakota into the Rockies. Models keep this upper level system
over the Rockies into Saturday before it finally moves east
again for Saturday night into Sunday. This system looks to bring
the next chance of rain and possible storms to the central
plains for Sunday into early next week. Models show weaker flow
aloft and limited instability due location of surface high
pressure putting a decent blockade on the quality low-level
moisture return heading into the weekend. As a result, strong
to severe storm potential looks rather low across Kansas.
