HYDROLOGIC OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MELBOURNE FL
1156 AM EST THU MAR 1 2018

...SPRING FLOOD OUTLOOK FOR EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA RIVERS...

RAINFALL WAS BELOW NORMAL ACROSS MUCH OF EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA FOR
THE METEOROLOGICAL WINTER SEASON OF DECEMBER, JANUARY AND FEBRUARY.
THE LATEST STREAMFLOW INFORMATION FROM THE UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL
SURVEY (USGS) INDICATES THAT STREAMFLOWS ARE RUNNING BELOW NORMAL
TO NEAR NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR IN EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

THE LATEST THREE MONTH OUTLOOK FROM THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER
FOR THE PERIOD MARCH...APRIL AND MAY INDICATES A GREATER THAN NORMAL
CHANCE FOR BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION. ALSO...EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA
IS IN THE DRY SEASON THIS TIME OF YEAR AND APRIL IS CLIMATOLOGICALLY
THE DRIEST MONTH OF THE YEAR. THE TYPICAL RIVER FLOOD SEASON FOR
EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA IS DURING THE LATE SUMMER AND EARLY AUTUMN.

GIVEN THE LOW WINTER PRECIPITATION TOTALS AND THREE MONTH
PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK, THE POTENTIAL FOR SPRING RIVER FLOODING IN
EAST CENTRAL FLORIDA IS LOWER THAN NORMAL FOR THIS SPRING SEASON.
