Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
419 AM MDT Mon May 28 2018

...A Red Flag Warning remains in effect from Noon to 9 PM MDT
today for gusty winds, low humidity and dry fuels for fire
weather zones 224, 225, 229 and 230, which includes the Sangre De
Cristo and Wet Mountains and Wet Mountain Valley, the San Luis
valley and the southern I-25 corridor of Huerfano and western Las
Animas counties...

.Discussion...

Critical fire weather conditions will return across southern sections
of the district this afternoon due to a combination of gusty winds,
low humidity values and dry fuels. Meanwhile, isolated thunderstorms
will be possible across the central mountains and plains, a few of
which could become strong to severe this afternoon across northern and
eastern portions of the plains. Some locally heavy rainfall will be
possible with these thunderstorms as well, but the heavier amounts will
be spotty and localized.

A cold front will bringing higher humidities and lighter winds to the
district for Tuesday and Wednesday. Thunderstorms will be possible
each day, but overall any heavier amounts will be spotty and localized.

It dries out and heats up again for late week into next weekend with
Friday potentially being the next critical fire weather day across
southern Colorado as winds increase once more.

Afternoon dispersions will rise into the very good to excellent
category district wide both today and Tuesday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
