895 FZUS63 KMQT 081406 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 1006 AM EDT Wed May 8 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...A 29.5 inch low pressure over Georgian Bay late this morning will track east, reaching New England this evening. Meanwhile, as a 30.3 inch high pressure over Hudson Bay this afternoon builds into far northern Ontario tonight, a 29.5 inch low pressure over Oklahoma will move to the Ohio Valley. During Thursday, the high over far northern Ontario will weaken to a 30.0 inch ridge extending from James Bay across western Lake Superior. This ridge will remain nearly stationary on Thursday night. As the ridge weakens to 29.8 inches while drifting east on Friday, a 29.7 inch trough will drop southeast, crossing Lake Superior during Friday night. In its wake, a 29.9 inch ridge will shift southeast, crossing Lake Superior late Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. On Sunday, a 29.5 inch low pressure will track east to southern Hudson Bay. This low will push an associated 29.7 inch trough across Lake Superior during Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. In its wake, 30.1 inch high pressure will build into northern Ontario on Monday.
