.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1110 AM EDT Tue May 14 2024
The 12z sounding at KEY sampled a weakly veered lower tropospheric
profile, along with very dry air above the 925 mb isobaric
surface. Visibile satellite imagery is highlighting mostly sunny
skies across the Florida Keys island chain as well as the adjacent
nearshore and offshore coastal waters. Winds remain a bit
elevated, with persistent breezy conditions continuing across the
islands at this late morning hour. As high pressure off the
Carolinas continues to slide offshore and a weak frontal
boundary nudges southward over the Florida Peninsula, winds will
slowly slacken over the next several hours. The main story this
afternoon will be yet another very warm day, with highs topping
out near 90F, and dew points in the upper 70s. Besides extending
the Small Craft Advisory a bit longer for the marine zones, no
changes proposed for this late morning update.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1110 AM EDT Tue May 14 2024
A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for all Florida Keys
coastal waters. Breezes will slacken through the early afternoon
hours. An area of high pressure will slide further over the
western North Atlantic, resulting in generally gentle to moderate
southeast to south breezes through Saturday. A series of surface
low and surface high pressures will transit through the region,
resulting in fluctuating breezes at times. A threat for isolated
thunderstorms will return starting Wednesday night.

.AVIATION...

VFR conditions are expected to persist at EYW and MTH terminals
through the afternoon and evening hours, though, expect some clouds
at level 012 to continue streaming from southeast to northwest.
Southeast to south surface winds between 15 to 20 knots this morning
with occasional gusts to 26 knots will rapidly slacken as we head
into the afternoon hours. However, the lull will be brief as we
expect another surge from the southeast to south overnight with
sustained winds near 15 knots with occasional gusts to near 20 knots.
