.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

1) A colder and more active weather pattern looks to continue
into the early weekend. Up to an inch of snowfall is possible
along the Canadian border through Thursday.

2) Northwest winds will continue at 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 45
mph at times through Thursday evening.

3) Warmer weather conditions look to move into the area next
week.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

An upper level low pressure system will translate across southern
Saskatchewan and into Manitoba by Friday. Unstable conditions will
continue on the southern edge of this system with continuing rain
and snow showers at times expected near the Canadian border. NBM
continues to show greater than 50 percent probabilities for up to
an inch of snow near Opheim through Thursday morning. Meanwhile,
northwest winds between 20 and 35 mph, gusting to 45 mph will
continue to through Thursday evening. Thus, a Lake Wind Advisory
continues in effect for Fort Peck Lake until 9 PM Thursday.
Lastly, a shallow upper level ridge ahead of the next shortwave
will allow for a warm up on Sunday, perhaps extending into early
next week.

CONFIDENCE AND POTENTIAL DEVIATIONS FROM BASE FORECAST:

High confidence exists on strong and gusty northwest winds
continuing into Thursday evening along with scattered rain and
snow showers at times. Medium confidence continues on the next
system late this weekend into early next week. Unstable conditions
will likely be in place but timing and placing any specific
precipitation chances will be a challenge, and so have opted to
remain close to NBM at this time in collaboration with neighboring
offices.
