At 145 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the North and South Kohala and Hamakua Districts. Rain rates are starting to increase with radar showing rates of up to 3 inches per hour. The heaviest rain is occurring around the Kohala Ranch area. Flash flooding is ongoing. Additional heavy showers will be onshore over the next few hours HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Waikoloa Village, Kapaau, Honokaa, Waimanu Valley, Waipio Valley, Kamuela, Pololu Valley, Kohala Ranch, Kukuihaele, Kawaihae, Halaula, Puako, Hawi, Mauna Lani and Mahukona.
