...Discussion from Monterey...

Light rain this evening will end by sunrise Thursday. Some isolated
showers on Thursday but the main forecast theme will be seasonably
cool temperatures with breezy northwest winds behind the front. On
Friday southerly winds will increase during the morning hours with
gusts to 35 mph, especially coast and hills as well as the Salinas
Valley as low pressure offshore deepens. Steady but mainly light to
moderate rain will develop Friday morning along the coast and only
slowly moves inland as the parent low pressure drops down the coast.
Showers and thunderstorms Friday night into early Saturday as the
core of the low drops southward along the California coast. High
pressure builds Sunday through the middle of next week with a
return to dry and milder weather.

Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified.
Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds.

...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard...

...SLOW MOVING STORM SYSTEM FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY OR MONDAY BRINGING
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN, MOUNTAIN SNOW, GUSTY WINDS, AND
THUNDERSTORMS...

A weak front will bring light rain to San Luis Obispo and northern
Santa Barbara Counties into Thursday, followed by west to northwest
wind gusts of 20 to 40 mph over most areas by Thursday afternoon,
strongest near the coast and deserts. A cold front will move through
California Friday afternoon into Saturday, bringing widespread
moderate to heavy rain. Off and on again showers will follow
through Sunday or Monday, most organized and widespread on Easter
Sunday. The most likely outcome calls for rain totals of 1 to
3 inches overall, with 3 to 5 inches in the mountains and
foothills. The chance for significantly higher totals has decreased
significantly. There is a moderate risk for significant flooding of
roads, mudslides, and heavy flows in creeks. If the wetter solutions
come true, those impacts will be amplified along with localized
creek and neighborhood flooding. In addition, south winds will be
common for the Friday through Saturday or Sunday time period, with
gusts of 30 to 50 mph possible. There should be a break in the
stormy weather Tuesday through Thursday, but gusty northwest winds
are possible.
