Surf Zone Forecast
National Weather Service Tallahassee FL
1202 PM EDT Fri Apr 19 2024

.THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK...

Increasing southwest winds at all area beaches today will lead to
a high risk for rip currents at Bay, Walton, and Gulf county beaches.
This is primarily due to the onshore component, which is leading to
higher surf heights of around 2 feet at Bay and Walton and 1-2 feet
at Gulf. Periods of 6 seconds are forecasted today, which combined
with 2 feet surf will lead to a higher risk for rip currents
throughout the day today. Franklin county beaches will remain under
a moderate risk for rip currents as the wind direction is more along
the shoreline of the coast. This will keep surf heights in the 1-2
feet range.

Based on communication with area beach officials, the following flags
are flying at area beaches:

Walton........................Red
Bay...........................Red
State Park Gulf Beaches.......Red
West Facing Gulf Beaches......Red
South Facing Gulf Beaches.....Red
Franklin......................Yellow
