.THE 2018-2019 WINTER SEASON SAW NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND WETTER
THAN NORMAL AT DULUTH MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER SEASON WAS 13.2 DEGREES WHICH
WAS 0.1 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 13.3 DEGREES. THE HIGHEST
TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER WAS 44 DEGREES ON DECEMBER 15TH. THE
LOWEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER WAS -31 DEGREES ON JANUARY 31ST.
NO MONTHLY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE BROKEN THIS WINTER.

THE WINTER OF 2018-2019 WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION WITH A
TOTAL OF 4.45 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION RECORDED FOR THE SEASON. THIS
WAS 1.47 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 2.98 INCHES. THE GREATEST DAILY
PRECIPITATION DECEMBER 27TH WHEN 1.19 INCHES WAS RECORDED. AT LEAST
0.01 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL ON 29 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.10 INCHES
FELL ON 12 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.50 INCHES FELL ON 1 DAY. AT LEAST 1 INCH
FELL ON 1 DAY. NO MONTHLY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE BROKEN THIS
WINTER...HOWEVER FEBRUARY WAS THE 13TH WETTEST IN STATION HISTORY.

THAN THE NORMAL OF 0.81 INCHES.

THE WINTER OF 2018-2019 WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR SNOWFALL WITH A TOTAL
OF 66.6 INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE WINTER. THIS WAS 17.1 INCHES ABOVE
THE NORMAL OF 49.5 INCHES...MAKING THIS THE 10TH SNOWIEST WINTER IN
STATION HISTORY. THE GREATEST DAILY SNOWFALL OCCURRED ON DECEMBER
27TH WHERE 12.2 INCHES OF SNOW WAS RECORDED. ONE MONTHLY SNOWFALL
RECORD WAS BROKEN THIS WINTER. FEBRUARY WAS THE SNOWIEST IN STATION
HISTORY WITH A TOTAL OF 36.4 INCHES OF SNOW. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS
IN 1939 WHEN 33.9 INCHES OF SNOW FELL.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE WINTER WAS 10.1 MPH. THE HIGHEST
SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 24TH WITH A SPEED OF 38 MPH OUT
OF THE WEST NORTHWEST. THE HIGHEST PEAK WIND GUST OCCURRED ON
FEBRUARY 24TH WITH A SPEED OF 50 MPH OUT OF THE NORTHWEST.

THERE WERE 4625 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE WINTER WHICH WAS 28
BELOW THE NORMAL OF 4653. THERE WERE 0 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE
WINTER WHICH WAS NORMAL.

THE OUTLOOK FOR SPRING...NORMAL HIGHS START IN THE UPPER 20S IN
EARLY MARCH AND WARM TO THE MID 60S BY THE END OF MAY. NORMAL LOWS
START IN THE LOW TEENS ABOVE ZERO AND WARM TO THE MID 40S BY THE END
OF THE SEASON. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR SPRING IS 7.15 INCHES.THE
NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR THE SPRING IS 20.5 INCHES. THE LATEST CLIMATE
PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK INDICATES THAT THERE IS NO CLEAR SIGNAL
FOR ABOVE OR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES OR PRECIPITATION.
