.THE 2018-2019 WINTER SEASON WAS COLDER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL AT
INTERNATIONAL FALLS MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE 2018-2019 WINTER SEASON WAS 6.4
DEGREES WHICH WAS 1.7 DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 8.1 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE WINTER WAS 47 DEGREES ON DECEMBER 15TH.
THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE FOR THE THE WINTER WAS 46 DEGREES BELOW ZERO
ON JANUARY 27TH. NO MONTHLY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE BROKEN THIS
WINTER.

THE WINTER OF 2018-2019 WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION WITH A
TOTAL OF 3.17 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION RECORDED FOR THE SEASON. THIS
WAS 1.17 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 2.00 INCHES. THE GREATEST DAILY
PRECIPITATION OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 27TH WHEN 0.51 INCHES WAS
RECORDED. AT LEAST 0.01 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL ON 34 DAYS. AT
LEAST 0.10 INCHES FELL ON 10 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.50 INCHES FELL ON 1
DAY. NO MONTHLY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE BROKEN THIS
WINTER...HOWEVER FEBRUARY WAS THE 5TH WETTEST IN STATION HISTORY. A
TOTAL OF 1.66 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL. THIS WAS 1.09 INCHES
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 0.57 INCHES.

THE WINTER OF 2018-2019 WAS ABOVE NORMAL FOR SNOWFALL WITH A TOTAL
OF 45.3 INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE SEASON. THIS WAS 4.5 INCHES ABOVE THE
NORMAL OF 40.8 INCHES. THE GREATEST DAILY SNOWFALL OCCURRED ON
DECEMBER 27TH WHEN 6.0 INCHES OF SNOW WAS RECORDED. NO MONTHLY
SNOWFALL RECORDS WERE BROKEN THIS WINTER...HOWEVER FEBRUARY WAS THE
4TH SNOWIEST IN STATION HISTORY. A TOTAL OF 25.4 INCHES OF SNOW
FELL. THIS WAS 14.6 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 10.8 INCHES OF SNOW.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE WINTER WAS 6.5 MPH. THE HIGHEST
SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 24TH WITH A SPEED OF 30 MPH OUT
OF THE WEST NORTHWEST. THE HIGHEST PEAK WIND GUST OCCURRED ON
FEBRUARY 24TH WITH A SPEED OF 40 MPH OUT OF THE NORTHWEST.

THERE WERE 5244 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE WINTER WHICH WAS 121
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 5123. THERE WERE 0 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE
WINTER WHICH WAS NORMAL.

THE OUTLOOK FOR SPRING...NORMAL HIGHS START IN THE UPPER 20S IN
EARLY MARCH AND WARM TO THE UPPER 60S BY THE END OF MAY. NORMAL LOWS
START IN THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO AND WARM TO THE MID 40S BY THE
END OF THE SEASON. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR SPRING IS 5.34 INCHES.
THE NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR THE SPRING IS 14.2 INCHES. THE LATEST
CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK INDICATES THAT THERE IS NO CLEAR
SIGNAL FOR ABOVE OR BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES OR PRECIPITATION
