Winter/Spring Flood Potential Outlook
National Weather Service Charleston SC
915 AM EDT Fri Mar 16 2018

...Winter/Spring Flood Potential Outlook for Southeast South
Carolina and Southeast Georgia...

This outlook applies to the following counties:

In Southeast South Carolina:
Allendale, Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester,
Hampton and Jasper.

In Southeast Georgia:
Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Jenkins,
Liberty, Long, McIntosh, Screven and Tattnall.

Including the following rivers:
Edisto, Lower Santee, Ogeechee, Ohoopee, Savannah and Canoochee.

All counties in southeast South Carolina and southeast Georgia are
experiencing at least Moderate Drought (D1). In fact all or
portions of Tattnall, Long, McIntosh, Liberty, Bryan, and Chatham
counties in southeast Georgia are within an expanding area of
Severe Drought (D2). As expected under worsening drought
conditions, streamflows on area main stem rivers range from below
normal to much below normal. Over the next week, the good news is
that there is a chance for widespread beneficial rainfall across
the entire area. A storm system will impact the region and 1 to 2
inches of rain will be possible during the Sunday night through
Tuesday time period. The 1-month precipitation outlook from the
Climate Prediction Center indicates an increased chance for below
normal rainfall for the month of April. The 3-month outlook for
the April through June time period indicates equal chances for
above normal, near normal, or below normal rainfall. The
combination of these factors continues to support a below normal
chance for river flooding over the next 3 months.

This is the last scheduled Winter/Spring Flood Potential Outlook
that will be issued for 2018.
