Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
350 AM EDT Fri May 3 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.7 inch low pressure strengthens to 29.6 inches
and moves into Ontario today while dragging a 29.8 inch trough
with it across Lake Superior. A weak 30.0 inch trough pivots
across the lake on Saturday ahead of ridging that builds to 30.1
inches by Saturday evening; this ridging persists through Sunday.
Ridging shifts east early next week as a broad 29.2 inch low
pressure develops on the Northern Plains on Monday. A strong
pressure gradient over western Lake Superior begins to setup
Tuesday morning as the 29.2 inch low center pushes eastward
against 30.0 inch ridging over far northern Ontario.
