...River Statement For The Tallapoosa River...

.Levels will continue to fall on the Tallapoosa River. Levels are
expected to remain below established flood stages, and any overflow
along the river should be of minor nature.


The Tallapoosa River at The Tallapoosa Water Plant.
* At 7:15 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 16.9 feet.
* Action stage is 15.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 7.7 feet Sunday
  evening.
* Impact...At 15.0 feet...Low areas near the junction with the Coosa
  River begin to overflow. Extensive flooding of low lying areas
  begins between US 231 and the river at stages of 15 to 25 feet.


Another statement will be issued by Wednesday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
