...River Statement For The Black Warrior River...

.Heavy rainfall this week will produce rises on the Black Warrior
River. However, levels are expected to remain below established
flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor
nature.


The Black Warrior River at Oliver Lock and Dam.
* At 10:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 98.9 feet.
* Action stage is 122.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 129.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 128.2 feet
  early Friday afternoon.
* Impact...At 125.0 feet...Flooding of some roads leading into homes
  in the Hemphill Bend area southwest of Tuscaloosa occurs.

Another statement will be issued by Wednesday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
