Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
344 AM MDT Wed Apr 24 2024

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...It will be breezy to windy at
times over the Palmer Divide and eastern plains through tonight,
with gusts reaching 30 to 35 mph. Temperatures will also be warmer
with much above normal readings. However, humidities will stay
above critical thresholds with minimum humidity staying in the
20-28% range in the windier areas. Lighter winds can be expected
in most of the mountains and I-25 Corridor from Denver north and
northeast through around Greeley. Only isolated to widely
scattered high based showers and storms can be expected this
afternoon, favoring the northern border area. Smoke dispersal will
reach good to very good over most of the forecast area during the
peak heating hours.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday through Sunday...An upper level
disturbance will move across northeast Colorado Thursday
afternoon and Thursday night. Scattered showers and thunderstorms
will develop over the northeast plains. Elevated to near critical
weather conditions will be possible primarily over eastern Elbert
and Lincoln counties Thursday afternoon. It will be cool and
unsettled the rest of the period, with snow showers in the
mountains, with mix of rain showers and a few embedded
thunderstorms over the northeast plains.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
