Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains
National Weather Service Hastings NE
703 PM CDT Wed Apr 17 2024

Showers and thunderstorms will be working their way east across the
region tonight...and a few could be strong to marginally severe.
Wind gusts near 60 MPH and hail near the size of quarters would be
the main hazards. Low temperatures tonight are expected to drop into
the upper 30s to mid 40s. Winds to start out the night will be
southeasterly around 15 MPH...but a passing cold front will switch
winds to the north...with speeds closer to 20 to 30 MPH. A few
lingering showers will be possible across eastern areas to start the
day on Thursday...but precipitation should end by mid
morning...leaving the rest of the day dry. Cloud cover should
diminish with time...and cooler highs are expected...reaching the
mid 50s to near 60. Winds remain northerly for Thursday...with
speeds around 20 to 25 MPH. Next chances for rain showers will start
working into the area from the west Friday evening through Saturday
morning...but at least some light snow mixing in cannot be totally
ruled out...especially for western areas. Highs on Friday look to be
in the low to mid 50s...with upper 40s to mid 50s for Saturday. Low
temperatures Friday night and again Saturday night are expected to
drop to near or below freezing for roughly the northern half of the
area.
