...Temperatures were below normal for North Platte and Valentine
in March, while precipitation was near normal for Valentine and
above normal for North Platte...

For North Platte, the average daily mean temperature for the month
of March was 39.0 degrees which was 0.6 degrees below the normal of
39.6 degrees. The average daily high temperature for the month of
March was 54.0 degrees which was 1.2 degrees below the normal of
55.2 degrees. The average daily low temperature for March was 23.9
degrees which was right at the normal of 23.9 degrees. No daily
record temperatures were set during the month of March for
North Platte.

For Valentine, the average daily mean temperature for the month of
March was 37.4 degrees which was 0.2 degrees below the normal of
37.6 degrees. The average daily high temperature for March was
51.2 degrees which was 0.4 degrees below the normal of 51.6 degrees.
The average daily low temperature for the month was 23.7 degrees
which was 0.2 degrees above the normal of 23.5 degrees. No daily
record temperatures were set during the month of March for
Valentine.

At Lee Bird Field in North Platte, precipitation for March
totaled 1.70 inches which was 0.70 inches above the normal of 1.00
inches. One daily precipitation record was set during the month
of March for North Platte. On the 7th, 0.89 inches of precipitation
was reported at North Platte. This broke the record of 0.71 inches
set previously in 2000. Snowfall for March totaled 21.5 inches
which was 17.3 inches above the normal of 4.2 inches. March 2024
will go down as the 7th snowiest March on record. Two daily
snowfall records were set during the month of March for North
Platte. On the 7th, 15.3 inches of snow fell, breaking the record
of 6.0 inches set previously in 1998. This mark was also the snowiest
March day on record, breaking the previous record of 12.6 inches set
on March 21st 1894. This was also the heaviest all time daily
snowfall record for North Platte. The previous all time daily record
snowfall for North Platte was 13.9 inches set on January 18th 2023.
A second daily snowfall record was set on March 8th when 2.1 inches
of snow fell. This broke the daily record of 1.2 inches set on this
date in 2002.

At Miller field in Valentine, precipitation for March totaled
1.02 inches which was 0.01 inches above the normal of 1.01 inches.
No daily precipitation records were set during the month of March
for Valentine. Snowfall for March totaled 3.9 inches which was 2.1
inches below the normal of 6.0 inches. No daily snowfall records were set
during the month of March for Valentine.
