An active weather pattern will continue throughout this week with daily chances for showers and thunderstorms. A strong cold front is forecast to cross the region Thursday, bringing an increased threat for flooding and severe weather. Decreasing rain chances and cooler conditions are expected as high pressure returns this weekend. For today, showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible for the site through the morning hours. Afterwards, some breaks in the clouds will appear this afternoon with highs getting into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Winds may be elevated out of the west this afternoon, gusting 15 to 20 knots at times between mainly noon and 6 PM. Tonight, showers and isolated thunderstorms will approach the site late in the overnight. These showers may be heavy at times along with the potential in any thunderstorms of producing frequent lightning, gusty winds and large hail. For Thursday, heavier showers and scattered thunderstorms will be possible for the Key Bridge site throughout the day. Some of these storms may be strong to severe, with the main hazards being damaging winds and large hail. Also cannot rule out an isolated tornado/waterspout.
