THE MONTH OF APRIL AT THE FARGO HECTOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OVERALL
WAS COLDER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL. THE MONTH STARTED OFF VERY COLD
WITH DAILY TEMPERATURE DEPARTURES AS MUCH AS 27 DEGREES BELOW
AVERAGE...BUT AFTER THE 20TH OF THE MONTH TEMPERATURE DEPARTURES
TRENDED TOWARD AVERAGE TO ABOVE AVERAGE VALUES. THE RESULTANT
AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 34.5 DEGREES WHICH WAS 9.6 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL. THIS MAKES THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE THE THIRD
COLDEST ON RECORD...WITH THE COLDEST BEING 33.5 DEGREES BACK IN 1950.
ON APRIL 3...THE AIRPORT SET A RECORD LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 18
DEGREES BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 20 DEGREES PREVIOUSLY SET IN
1982. AGAIN ON APRIL 6...THE AIRPORT SET A RECORD LOW MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE OF 20 DEGREES BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 22 DEGREES
PREVIOUSLY SET IN 2007.

LIQUID EQUIVALENT PRECIPITATION WAS 0.37 INCHES FOR THE MONTH WHICH
WAS 0.99 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. A TOTAL OF 3.8 INCHES SNOW FELL DURING
APRIL.
