Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
1006 AM EDT Wed May 8 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.5 inch low pressure over Georgian Bay late this
morning will track east, reaching New England this evening.
Meanwhile, as a 30.3 inch high pressure over Hudson Bay this
afternoon builds into far northern Ontario tonight, a 29.5 inch low
pressure over Oklahoma will move to the Ohio Valley. During
Thursday, the high over far northern Ontario will weaken to a 30.0
inch ridge extending from James Bay across western Lake Superior.
This ridge will remain nearly stationary on Thursday night. As the
ridge weakens to 29.8 inches while drifting east on Friday, a 29.7
inch trough will drop southeast, crossing Lake Superior during
Friday night. In its wake, a 29.9 inch ridge will shift southeast,
crossing Lake Superior late Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
On Sunday, a 29.5 inch low pressure will track east to southern
Hudson Bay. This low will push an associated 29.7 inch trough across
Lake Superior during Sunday afternoon and Sunday night. In its wake,
30.1 inch high pressure will build into northern Ontario on Monday.
