Today:

Widespread showers and a few thunderstorms were ongoing across much of
central and southern Iowa early this morning. Since yesterday,
rainfall amounts varied greatly. The greatest rainfall amounts were
near Indianola which received 2-3 inches of rain. Temperatures at 4am
were in the mid 50s to low 60s.

Showers and a few thunderstorms remain likely today across much of
central and southern Iowa. Additional precipitation amounts of one
half to one inch are possible over southern Iowa. High temperatures
today will be in the 60s and 70s. The warmest temperatures will be
over northern Iowa where less precipitation and more sun is expected.

Tonight and beyond:

The precipitation will gradually end tonight as low pressure over
Missouri moves east. Tuesday will be drier will most areas having
clearing skies. Wednesday will feature increasing clouds and the
return of shower and thunderstorms chances, especially by the
afternoon. The shower and thunderstorm chances will persist into
Thursday with the highest chances over southeast Iowa. High
temperatures this week will remain in the 60s and 70s.
