.DISCUSSION...
Subsidence underneath a surface high pressure centered to the south
of the forecast area will keep precipitation chances to a minimum
today and Monday. Winds are expected to be primarily W at 4-8 mph
this morning, shifting to SW at 6-10 mph this afternoon. Relative
humidity values are forecast to range from 30-40 percent along and
north of the I-20 corridor this afternoon, and from 25-30 percent to
the south. RH values in a few locations in west-central Georgia may
briefly drop below 25 percent for an hour or two this afternoon, but
not for long enough to warrant the issuance of a Fire Danger
Statement at this time. Transport winds from SW at 12-18 mph this
afternoon combined with mixing heights over 5000 ft will allow for
good smoke dispersal. On Tuesday, cloud cover will increase,
becoming partly cloudy to mostly cloudy across the forecast area.
Winds will be primarily S, peaking at 10-15 mph in the afternoon
hours. Relative humidity values are forecast to range from 30-35
percent.
