In 1995, winds gusting to 75 mph were reported at Saint Francis, 62
mph at Bird City and 69 mph at Goodland behind a strong cold front.

In 1996, snow was accompanied by blowing dust as northwest winds of
up to 40 mph were experienced in a quick moving snow storm. Snowfall
of 3 to 6 inches was common across much of the area.

In 2011, 60 mph winds combined with wet, heavy snow to produce
blizzard conditions across parts of Colorado and western Kansas.
Interstate 70 was closed from Limon, Colorado to Wakeeney, Kansas.
Some areas were without power for up to 48 hours.
