In 1960, eight strong tornadoes tore through Central
Oklahoma. The two worst events were F3 variants. One
with a track 10 miles long and up to one half mile wide,
struck the south side of Oklahoma City. This tornado
injured 57. The second of these twisters had a path only
four miles long, but also reached one half mile wide. It
killed a family of three on a farm located around 50
miles east of Oklahoma City.
