...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1935, Southeast Colorado was in the midst of 13-day
dust storm that sandblasted the region from March 12th to
the 25th.  Six people died and countless livestock
starved or suffocated.Some areas were buried under 6
FEET OF DUST.  In 1907, the high temperature reached 91
degrees in Wichita, the earliest 90 degree reading in the
city`s history.  In 1875, an F3 tornado with a track 15
miles long struck North-Central Louisiana where 3 people
were killed, 6 homes were destroyed and several thousand
trees were splintered.All 3 deaths were from one
family.

In 1950, Timberline Lodge, located on the south slopes
of Mount Hood about 60 miles east of Portland, was
`snowed under` by around 20.5 feet which had set an
Oregon State record.
