216 FNUS53 KLBF 042034 FWFLBF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and North Central for Nebraska National Weather Service North Platte NE 334 PM CDT Sat May 4 2024 .DISCUSSION... Fire weather concerns will remain limited in the coming days across western Nebraska. Recent rainfall has put much of the area at a surplus in the past seven outside of far southwest Nebraska, particularly Zone 210. A A strengthening storm system will bring precipitation chances to the area early next week though the greatest potential will favor central and eastern Nebraska. As usual with strong surface lows, a surge of dry air will encroach on the southern periphery with expectation of this to move into southwest Nebraska. While uncertainty on whether fuels will be receptive to fire lingers, weather conditions would support at least an elevated mention given anticipated wind gusts exceeding 40 mph and afternoon humidity minimums falling below 30 percent. Strong winds continue into Tuesday with dry conditions likely. Winds diminish by late week with cooling temperatures. This should allow fire weather concerns to decrease as humidity values fail to fall below 30 percent any day Thursday through Saturday though breezy conditions should persist.
