Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
1023 AM CDT Fri Apr 12 2024

...New UPDATE...

.UPDATE...
Issued at 1018 AM CDT Fri Apr 12 2024

Clear skies and dry air abounding will allow for continued rapid
warming through the late morning and early afternoon. With
temperatures already climbing into the upper 60s as of the 15Z
hour, elected to boost today`s afternoon high temperatures 2-3
degrees, with area sites achieving values well into the upper 70s
and lower 80s, if not a degree or two warmer at some sites. The
forecast otherwise looks on track, with no further wholesale
changes required. Ingested the most recent several hours worth of
temperature and dew point observations and interpolated through to
00Z this evening.

.SHORT TERM...
(Friday through Saturday)
Issued at 420 AM CDT Fri Apr 12 2024

Quiet and near normal conditions will continue through the weekend
across the Four State Region. This is due to surface ridging
gradually transiting across the area and settling in by this
afternoon, allowing for calmer winds (5-10 mph) after a few
blustery days. As a result, temperature maximums and minimums will
remain in the upper 70s/lower 80s and 50s respectively. /16/

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday Night through Friday)
Issued at 420 AM CDT Fri Apr 12 2024

Some chances for active weather return to the Four State Region
early next week before warning trends continue. This is due to
robust troughing that makes its way across the Intermountain West,
re-emerging across the southern Great Plains and creating a more
significant severe weather threat across Central Oklahoma. The
attendant frontal boundary will create a chance of thunderstorms
(some possibly severe in northern zones) for the area by Monday
continuing into Tuesday. After mid-week, temperatures may approach
the 90-degree mark once again with robust southerly winds
maintaining warmer than normal conditions through most of the
period. /16/
