THE MONTH OF MARCH AT GRAND FORKS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FARGO WAS ABOUT A
DEGREE COLDER THAN NORMAL WITH RESPECT TO ATMOSPHERIC TEMPERATURE AND WETTER
AND SNOWIER THAN AVERAGE. LIQUID EQUIVALENT PRECIPITATION OF 1.85 INCHES WAS
ABOUT TWICE THE AVERAGE AMOUNT FOR MARCH. THE SNOWFALL TOTAL OF 13.9 INCHES
WAS THE SIXTH HIGHEST ON RECORD, ALTHOUGH THE PERIOD OF INSPECTION ONLY DATES
BACK TO 1965. THE HIGHEST MARCH SNOWFALL AT THE AIRPORT OCCURRED IN 1966 ( 29.3
INCHES). THE HIGHEST DAILY PRECIPITATION AMOUNT OF 0.56 INCHES ON THE 4TH WAS
DUE LARGELY TO RAIN AND EARLY SEASON THUNDERSTORMS MIXED WITH WET SNOW AND
SLEET.

REMEMBER...THIS DATA IS PROVISIONAL AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. THE FINAL AND
OFFICIAL RECORDS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM THE NATIONAL CENTERS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL
