From: Terrance J. Clark
    Director, WSR-88D Radar Operations Center

Subject: WSR-88D Mid-Volume Rescan of Low-Level Elevations
Field Test to Begin on or around May 14, 2018

The Radar Operations Center will begin the Mid-Volume Rescan of
Low-Level Elevations (MRLE) Field Test at 15 radar sites
beginning on or around May 14, 2018. This date is dependent on
RDA/RPG Build 18.0 deployment. MRLE is similar to the
Supplemental Adaptive Intra-Volume Low-Level Scan (SAILS)
technique where an additional low-level scan is provided each
volume scan; however, MRLE allows for up to four low elevation
angles to be repeated during a single volume scan. More details,
including test datasets, are available on the Radar Operations
Center`s website:

The field test is expected to run approximately one year. The
15 sites participating in the MRLE Field Test are as follows:

KAMA - Amarillo, TX
KDGX - Jackson, MS
KJKL - Jackson, KY
KLSX - St. Louis, MO
KEMX - Tucson, AZ
KLRX - Elko, NV
KICT - Wichita, KS
KIND - Indianapolis, IN
KDVN - Quad Cities, IA
KILN - Wilmington, OH
KPUX - Pueblo, CO
KEWX - Austin/San Antonio, TX
KENX - Albany, NY
KRAX - Raleigh, NC
KUDX - Rapid City, SD
