...MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND ILLINOIS RIVER ICE STATEMENT...

                ICE COVER CONDITIONS AS OF 04/17/18

MISSISSIPPI RIVER
THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER IS MOSTLY OPEN EXCEPT FOR THE LOWER PART
OF LAKE PEPIN, WHERE THE ICE IS MELTING AT A RATE THAT IS
SIMILAR TO 2013 AND 2014.

THE U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, ST PAUL DISTRICT, FINAL ROUND
OF ICE MEASUREMENTS FOR THE SEASON ON LAKE PEPIN WAS ON APRIL 4.

WATER TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM 34 TO 38 DEGREES FROM LD1 TO
LD12, 40 TO 44 DEGREES FROM LD13 TO LD19, AND 42 TO 52 DEGREES
FROM LD20 TO LD27.

ILLINOIS RIVER SYSTEM (CHICAGO/ILLINOIS R)
OPEN WATER WAS REPORTED OVER THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE ILLINOIS
RIVER. WATER TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM 42 TO 52 DEGREES.

CURRENT CONDITIONS AS OF 04/17/2018:

OUTLOOK FOR NEXT 7 DAYS:
AIR TEMPERATURES WILL BE BELOW NORMAL THIS WEEK AND A LITTLE
WARMER NEXT WEEK.

IN THE NORTH...HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE MOSTLY IN THE 30S AND 40S
THIS WEEK AND IN THE 40S AND 50S NEXT WEEK.  LOWS WILL BE IN
THE 20S AND 30S.

IN THE SOUTH...HIGHS WILL BE IN THE 50S AND 60S WITH LOWS IN THE
30S AND 40S.

IN OUR REGION...LOW TEMPERATURES TODAY WERE 22 DEGREES IN ST CLOUD,
23 DEGREES IN THE TWIN CITIES, 26 DEGREES IN DUBUQUE, 28 DEGREES
IN MOLINE, 29 DEGREES IN PEORIA, 27 DEGREES AT LD19, AND 31 DEGREES
IN ST LOUIS.

BASED ON THESE FACTORS...REMAINING ICE WILL CONTINUE TO SLOWLY MELT.

THIS IS THE FINAL RIVER ICE STATEMENT FOR THE SEASON.  WE WILL START
UP AGAIN IN NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER.
