...River Statement For The Coosa River...

Heavy rainfall over the past weekend has produced rises on the Coosa River
at Weiss Dam. However...levels are expected to remain below established
flood stages...and any overflow along the river should be of a minor nature.

The Coosa River At Weiss Dam.
 Latest stage:     564.0 feet at 8 PM Tuesday.
 Caution stage:    564.5 feet.
 Flood stage:      567.0 feet.
 Forecast:         Crest near 565.3 feet Sunday evening
                   and then begin to fall.

* Impact...At 565.5 feet...Some minor flooding of docks begins in
  places such as the Bay Springs area.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected today and
tonight.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.

Another statement will be issued Wednesday morning...or sooner if
conditions warrant.
