Weather Summary for Portions of the Central Plains
National Weather Service Hastings NE
648 AM CDT Thu May 2 2024

Following a stormy overnight that brought widespread thunderstorms
to our coverage area...and unfortunately some severe storms to
counties mainly along and south of the Kansas border...the good news
is that the weather for roughly these next 36 hours will be much
quieter...and dry. Starting with today...although well start out
with plentiful cloud cover...skies will steadily clear from west to
east with time...paving the way for a sunny afternoon. It will be
plenty breezy...however...with northwesterly winds commonly gusting
20 to 30 MPH. Tonight...skies remain mostly clear and winds lighten
up...allowing temperatures to fall well down into the upper 30s to
lower 40s range...making this one of the chillier nights we will
have for a while. Turning to Friday...most of the day will be dry
and partly cloudy as southerly winds boost high temperatures a bit
into the upper 60s and lower 70s. However...by Friday evening and
into the overnight hours chances for thunderstorms return to the
area...a few of which could again be severe. In fact...our
overall-active weather pattern will continue beyond that...with
severe storms again possible next Monday.
