Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
209 PM CDT Fri May 3 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns will remain low through the valid forecast
period. Recent rainfall and lingering cooler temperatures will be
the main reasoning for this. Widespread rain and thunderstorms
developing across western Nebraska this evening

A brief lull with dry weather will arrive for Saturday, following
widespread rain and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.
Though ridge breakdown will begin by late Saturday, weak winds due
to modest high pressure will preclude greater concerns as
temperatures remain near to slightly below normal. A stronger
storm system will bring winds and rain chances early next week,
but recent greenup and lack of drier low-level air will preclude
greater concern. Even cooler air arrives around the middle of next
week which will only work against fire weather concerns.
