...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Coastal waters from Cape Fear NC to Little River Inlet SC out 20
  nm...
  Coastal waters from Surf City to Cape Fear NC out 20 nm...

At 633 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from near Surf City to 9 nm northwest
of Sunset Beach, moving southeast at 20 knots.

  Rich Inlet, Masonboro Sea Buoy, Dallas Rock, Topsail Boxcars,
  Wrightsville Beach, North Masonboro Island, Harris Reef, Billy
  Murrell Reef, Liberty Ship, and Figure Eight Island around 640 PM
  EDT.
  5 Mile Boxcars and Shallotte River Inlet Sea Buoy around 655 PM
  EDT.
  10 Mile Rocks, Lockwood Folly Inlet Sea Buoy, and Buoy Off
  Carolina Beach around 700 PM EDT.
  Kure Beach Point and 10 Mile Boxcars around 705 PM EDT.
  Sheepshead Rock around 710 PM EDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass. If caught on the open water,
prepare for deteriorating conditions. Make sure you and your crew are
wearing properly fitted life jackets.
