...AN AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WITH TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS
WILL AFFECT NORTHEASTERN NASH...EASTERN WARREN...EDGECOMBE...HALIFAX
AND NORTHEASTERN WILSON COUNTIES UNTIL 145 PM EDT...

At 1240 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of showers and
thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall along a line extending from
10 miles northwest of Dortches to near Graingers. Movement was north
northeast at 25 mph. The torrential downpours will affect travel
along I-95 in Nash and Halifax counties. minor street flooding will
be possible in Rocky Mount and Tarboro.

Heavy rain and minor flooding will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, Tarboro, Nashville, Dortches, Littleton,
Red Oak, Enfield, Princeville and Sharpsburg.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in
ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and
minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoid
hydroplaning, especially in urban areas where prolonged heavy rain
can quickly lead to flooding.
