A weak cool front is making its way southward late this evening
and should arrive between 06z and 07z as winds shift to a more
E/ENE direction. Sct -shra along with a few weak tstms have been
developing by this front so have kept in Prob30`s for -shra at
DEN and BJC from 07z-10z. Can`t rule out a weak tstm as well but
will leave out of current Tafs for now. Meanwhile another surge
may move across by 10z with a wind shift to the north. This surge
could bring some smoke to the area by 10z.
On Tue, winds will be ENE by 15z and then shift to more easterly
by 18z. Smoke may linger thru 18z as well. By 21z winds will
become SE and continue thru Tue evening. At this time, it appears
best tstm chances Tue evening will stay north or the area.
However, if an outflow boundary from convection to the north were
to move into the area then tstm chances would increase. For now
have kept a Prob30 starting at 01z.

VFR conditions expected at the terminals over the next 24 hours.
A front will drop through KCOS and KPUB between 09z and 12z
bringing northerly winds gusting up to 25 kts. Winds will shift
from the east to southeast at all three terminals with gusts up
to 25 kts in the afternoon. Thunderstorms will be possible at
all three terminals in the afternoon which could produce some
gusty erratic outflow winds through 01-02z. Showers and
thunderstorms should dissipate or move east of the terminals
after 02z with winds eventually settling into more diurally
driven overnight patterns. -KT

Showers with embedded thunderstorms continue to drift westward
across the state line into eastern Utah late this evening. Most
TAF sites are clear of this threat with lingering convective
debris clouds leaving cigs at or above 120kft agl. KCNY could
see some light showers linger past midnight. Plenty of moisture
and instability remains for another active afternoon and evening
expected to impact most TAF sites with the threat of a passing
thunderstorm well into the early morning hours of Wednesday. VFR
is prevailing in TAF sites with ILS possible in the PROB30
groups at some sites. Confidence not high enough for MVFR or
below attm but if a heavy rain shower moves over the airfield
this is very possible over the next 24 to 36 hours.

KSLC...Southeasterly winds prevail through the remainder of the
night. Nocturnal shower activity will result in periods of variable
winds at the terminal between roughly 06-11z tonight, with gusts
exceeding 25 kts possible through this period. Winds increase out of
the northwest after 18z, before convective activity developing after
20z brings more gusty and erratic winds through the remainder of the
afternoon and evening. VFR conditions prevail at the terminal,
though heavier rainfall tomorrow afternoona and evening could result
in brief MVFR conditions.
REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...There is a threat for nocturnal
showers and thunderstorms overnight across most of the airspace,
mainly between the 06-12z timeframe; this activity will be capable
of producing variable gusty winds to 30 kts for most regional
terminals overnight. Otherwise, widely scattered showers and
thunderstorms redevelop after around 19z on Tuesday, with MVFR
conditions possible for many terminals through the evening as heavy
rainfall may bring lowered CIGS/VIS at times.

Monsoonal moisture increases over the next couple of days. This
moisture will lead to widespread convection across the area. Tonight
scattered rain showers will linger across southwest Wyoming tapering
off by about 12Z. Chances remain too low (15%) at KBPI and KPNA for
a rain shower to include even a PROB30 group. These showers should
shift west of KRKS by the start of the TAF period.
Convection will take time to develop Tuesday afternoon, with the
earliest impacts at KBPI and KJAC beginning around 21Z. Due to the
available moisture showers and storms will produce heavy rain. This
will lead to reductions in VIS to MVFR down to IFR in the heavier
showers and storms. Convection will linger well into Tuesday evening
with some isolated showers and storms continuing into Tuesday night.
Wind will vary widely across the area tonight into Tuesday morning,
but will weaken during the overnight hours through Tuesday morning.
Once convection initiates Tuesday afternoon wind will become gusty
and erratic across the area due to the widespread convection.
Frequent mountaintop obscuration will occur beginning Tuesday
afternoon.

Continued scattered shower activity is evident on regional
radars. This activity is not widespread enough to warrant
including as a group in TAFs and is expected to diminish as the
night progresses. Winds are variable and light at most
terminals, but KLAR and KSNY are gusting to 25 knots out of the
east. No MVFR CIGs are expected through tomorrow afternoon. In
the early afternoon hours showers and thunderstorms are expected
to start near KRWL and spread in coverage eastward through the
afternoon and evening. Based on current trends and confidence in
coverage in model guidance, prob30 group were added/kept to
southeast Wyoming terminals. These cover tomorrow afternoon
through the end of the forecast period. Some of these storms
could produce strong winds to 45 knots or greater, lightning,
and heavy rain at terminals. Outside convection the prevailing
winds are out of the southeast between 10 to 20 knots.

A cold front is slowly moving towards GLD and MCK from the
north. Winds are forecast to increase and shift from the north
with the passage. Current thinking is that a higher sustained
wind is most likely around 20 knots or so. With the front, am
noticing a potential brief period where some lower clouds could
occur potentially as low as 500 feet. Currently not anticipating
a thick layer of stratus potential but have seen in the past in
similar situations a brief period of stratus is possible.
Confidence is not high enough to include flight category
restrictions at this time but will watch upstream observations
closely. A period of of wind gusts of 25-30 knots is also
possible as diurnal mixing begins around 14Z.

gusting 23-27 kts. Winds will trend easterly and diminish by

Upper-level high pressure should keep condition on the drier side
though the overnight with winds at the surface staying on the
lighter side. There is some potential for isolated showers and
thunderstorms to be present this afternoon and evening thanks to
some moisture trying to push in from the southeast. However,
chances of any impacts to the terminals remains too low for there
to be any mention in the present package. For now, expected some
scatter to few cloud deck with conditions staying VFR.

This evening`s thunderstorm activity has exited westward into AZ
with clearing and calming conditions forecast for the rest of
tonight into Tuesday morning. The exception could be a few
clustered showers and perhaps a stray thunderstorm near KONM.
Otherwise, another round of afternoon thunderstorms will favor
development over the central and western high terrain before being
steered WNW/NW toward AZ and the Four Corners region. Localized
MVFR/IFR conditions will accompany any of the stronger showers and
storms.
